You can sell tickets on your own website without a payment gateway account by using the Vihaya Events API. Buyers pay through Vihaya’s Razorpay account by UPI, card or net banking. The organiser withdraws from the Vihaya dashboard and the money lands by UPI in about two working days.
Key facts
- No Razorpay merchant account, KYC or website approval is needed to start.

- Vihaya verifies each payment with Razorpay before issuing a ticket.
- Organisers withdraw to their UPI ID; it lands in about two working days.
- The minimum withdrawal is ₹100.
Step by step
- 1
Sign up and create your event
Create a free Vihaya Events account, verify your email and accept the organiser terms. You can publish straight away. Set the ticket price in the event.
- 2
Connect your website
Your website calls POST /api/v1/events/{id}/register. Vihaya returns a Razorpay order and public key. Open Razorpay Checkout with them, then send the payment id back.
- 3
Buyers pay, Vihaya confirms
Vihaya checks the payment with Razorpay, confirms the booking and emails a QR ticket. A forged payment id is refused.
- 4
Withdraw your money
Add your payout details in the dashboard and request a withdrawal. UPI transfers land in about two working days.
Questions
Do I need KYC to start selling tickets?
Not to start. You can create events and sell tickets after verifying your email. Identity and payout details are collected when you withdraw money, which is where the checks belong.
Can the money go straight into my own bank account?
Not automatically. Payments settle into Vihaya’s Razorpay account and the organiser withdraws by UPI. Direct settlement into your own gateway account is not available today. Contact Vihaya if you need it.
Which payment methods can buyers use?
Buyers pay through Razorpay Checkout on your website. Razorpay Checkout offers UPI apps like Google Pay and PhonePe, credit and debit cards, net banking and wallets. Vihaya verifies every payment before confirming a booking.
How do refunds work?
Organisers issue refunds from the Vihaya Events dashboard, for one booking at a time. The refund goes back to the buyer through Razorpay to the original payment method. The developer does not need to write any refund code.
How much does it cost?
Free events cost nothing. Paid tickets carry a 1.75–4.5% Vihaya platform fee plus Razorpay's 3% gateway charge. The rate is fixed when the event is created and larger events get a lower rate. There is no monthly fee and API access is free.
