An event ticketing API for India
Last updated
Vihaya Events offers a REST API for event ticketing in India. It creates events, takes UPI and card payments through Razorpay, issues QR tickets, and pays organisers out by UPI. It has official SDKs in seven languages, a test mode, signed webhooks and an OpenAPI spec.

Step by step
- 1
Events
Create, update, publish and list events, including multi-day festivals with separate tracks, each with its own date, price and seats.
- 2
Registrations and payments
Book attendees from your own front end. Free events confirm in one call. Paid events return a Razorpay order; you confirm with the payment id.
- 3
Tickets and check-in
Each confirmed booking gets a ticket id that is also the QR code. Organisers scan it at the gate from a phone.
- 4
Data and messaging
Pull registrations and analytics, and send a broadcast email to attendees.
Questions
Is the Vihaya Events API free to use?
Yes. There is no charge for Vihaya Events API access and no monthly plan. Vihaya only takes a platform fee on paid tickets that are actually sold. Free events cost nothing, with unlimited attendees.
Does the Vihaya Events API have rate limits?
Broadcast email is limited to 6 sends and 60 previews a minute per key, and MCP tool calls to 60 a minute. Other Vihaya Events API endpoints have no hard limit today. Back off and retry if you ever receive a 429 response.
Is there an OpenAPI spec?
Yes. The Vihaya Events OpenAPI spec is at https://events.vihaya.app/api/v1/openapi.json and can be imported into Postman or given to an AI coding assistant. The human-readable reference with examples is at https://events.vihaya.app/docs.
Which payment gateway does the API use?
The public Vihaya Events API takes payment through Razorpay, using Vihaya’s own Razorpay account. Buyers can pay by UPI, card, net banking or wallet. Developers never handle card data or gateway keys.
What are the fees on paid tickets?
Free events cost nothing. Paid tickets carry a 1.75–4.5% Vihaya platform fee plus Razorpay's 3% gateway charge. The rate is fixed when the event is created and larger events get a lower rate. There is no monthly fee and API access is free.
